about krista

It was as a young child when Krista discovered her passion for sewing.

Intrigued with the magic of stitching together bits of fabric, following a pattern held only in her mind and creating usable products, Krista had a dream that she would be a future designer. This desire dictated much of young Krista's life. Determined to pursue her passion, by the time she was eight years old, Krista took advantage of any opportunity she could get to sneak off to use her mom's sewing machine constructing an array of accessories from any scrap of material she managed to find.

Her parents quickly realized that Krista's fascination with sewing was not merely a fleeting hobby, but an authentic talent and decided to enroll eight-year-old Krista in a garment construction class at a nearby shop where she could hone her natural skills.

As she was learning how to follow patterns, creating wearable works of art, it didn't take long for Krista's innate ability to propel her into being a full-fledged designer. Equipped with the tools of the trade and gifted with an acute attention to detail, at 12 years old, she was able to look at magazines and duplicate outfits that interested her.

She soon earned a reputation from peers and professionals as the go to girl for sewing and designing needs.

One day, when Krista was 19, she happened upon a unique piece of fabric. The bold retro design caught her attention and she knew it was too good to not use. But the flamboyant pattern, scattered with images of 50's women, called for an equally unique item to be fashioned from it.

Inspired by the funky fabric, and wanting to showcase it as much as possible, Krista created her first handbag featuring the simple, bold lines her purses are now famous for and finished it off with her signature bow. At once modern and functional, while simultaneously retro chic, the purse she'd created just for herself began to draw attention from nearly every woman who laid eyes on it.

One woman, shocked to hear that Krista had created the stylish handbag, offered to pay Krista to sew one for her in every color. As more and more people began to make similar offers, Krista realized that there was a very real opportunity for her to establish her own business.

Today, Krista now has a full line of purses, offered in a myriad of colors and sizes, all featuring her exquisite taste for punchy patterns and attention to a finely finished product.

"The purse doesn't have to match the outfit anymore" says Krista. "Get something that makes you smile and it will go with your whole wardrobe."

She is concurrently working on expanding her line to include messenger bags, laptop cases, diaper bags and eventually clothing.

Her life motto, and her encouragement to others, is to "do something you love and you'll never have to work a day in your life."
